Kathi Lipp LLC offers optional SMS text message notifications to members of its membership portal at portal.kathilipp.com. SMS is never enabled by default. Members must explicitly opt in by (1) checking a consent checkbox, (2) providing their phone number, and (3) verifying it through a one-time code — all on their profile page within the portal.
The opt-in process requires deliberate action at every step. Members cannot receive SMS text messages without completing this entire flow:
"I agree to receive SMS text messages from Kathi Lipp LLC, including event reminders, @mention alerts, and announcements. Message frequency varies (typically 1–5 per week). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time. Reply HELP for help. View full SMS terms."
The "Verify Phone Number" button remains disabled until this checkbox is checked.
All SMS toggles default to off. Members must individually enable each notification type they wish to receive via text message.

After opting out via STOP, the portal displays a notice on both the Profile and Notification Preferences pages informing the member that SMS is paused and how to re-enable (by texting START).
